Shashwat Sharma appointed as MD and CEO of Bharti Airtel

Shashwat Sharma will take over as Managing Director and CEO of Bharti airtel India from January 1, 2026. In his new role he will lead Airtel India’s operations and growth plans.

He brings close to two decades of leadership experience across telecom and consumer businesses. During his seven years at Bharti Airtel he has held senior roles including Chief Operating Officer, Director Consumer Business and CEO DTH and Chief Marketing and Brand Officer. In these roles he focused on customer led growth, brand building and operational scale. Before joining Airtel he spent over a decade at Hindustan Unilever where he held leadership roles across sales and brand management and led categories such as Oral Care and Ayush.
