NVIDIA has announced its participation in the US Department of Energy’s Genesis Mission as a private industry partner. The initiative aims to strengthen American leadership in artificial intelligence across energy scientific research and national security. The Genesis Mission is part of a recent executive order and focuses on improving collaboration between government industry and academia.
As part of the mission NVIDIA will support the Department of Energy by helping integrate an AI driven discovery platform designed to connect researchers institutions and industrial partners. According to the Department the program is expected to improve the productivity and impact of science and engineering while supporting breakthroughs in energy systems research and national security applications.
NVIDIA and the Department of Energy are already collaborating in areas such as open science AI models manufacturing optimization robotics autonomous laboratories nuclear fission and fusion quantum computing and materials science. NVIDIA has also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Department to outline shared priorities including AI enabled digital twins robotics and open source AI.
The collaboration builds on existing supercomputing efforts including new systems planned at Argonne and Los Alamos National Laboratories. NVIDIA stated that its accelerated computing platforms will continue to support large scale simulations model training and scientific discovery aligned with the Genesis Mission.
