Meta has shared an update marking one year since construction began on its Richland Parish Data Center in Louisiana. Over the past year the project has resulted in more than eight hundred seventy five million dollars in contracts awarded to Louisiana based businesses. These contracts have supported construction activity and local employment across the region.
Construction work is being led by Turner Construction Company DPR Construction and Mortensen Construction. More than one hundred sixty Louisiana businesses are involved in areas such as electrical work paving utilities and on site services. The project has supported thousands of construction workers so far and is expected to reach peak construction employment by mid twenty twenty six. Once operational the facility is expected to support over five hundred long term technical and operations roles.
Meta has also expanded local infrastructure investments to over three hundred million dollars to support road upgrades water systems and wastewater improvements in Richland Parish. In addition the company is contributing three hundred thousand dollars to the Richland Revitalization Board for park improvements and restoration of local landmark sites across Rayville Delhi and Mangham.
On energy planning Meta is working with Entergy to manage grid upgrades and electricity use. The arrangement is expected to lower certain customer grid and storm related costs over time. Meta is also supporting clean energy projects in Louisiana and contributing to customer assistance programs for low income households.
Water efficiency and restoration efforts are also part of the project. Meta aims to return the full volume of water used by the data center back to local watersheds through wetland restoration projects delivered with environmental partners. Additional community initiatives include support for schools workforce development senior services and veterans facilities.
