LG Energy Solution Vertech and Qcells announced a multi year agreement to deliver 5GWh of utility scale energy storage projects across the United States. The projects are scheduled between 2028 and 2030 and will support Qcells EPC developments nationwide.
Under the agreement LG Energy Solution Vertech will supply lithium ion battery energy storage systems along with lifecycle services. All projects will meet U.S. domestic content requirements with batteries manufactured in Michigan and solar panels produced in Georgia. The partnership builds on earlier battery purchase agreements signed in May 2024 covering 4.8GWh of U.S. projects.
The collaboration aims to strengthen domestic clean energy supply chains support U.S. manufacturing jobs and improve grid reliability while reducing exposure to trade risks and tariffs. The storage systems will use containerized lithium ion solutions with LFP cells produced at U.S. facilities.
LG Energy Solution is expanding battery cell production in North America including up to 16.5GWh in Holland Michigan with plans to reach around 50GWh capacity by the end of 2026. Qcells continues to expand its U.S. manufacturing footprint with large scale solar production facilities in Georgia.
