Panasonic Corporation has expanded its solar power systems at Panasonic Appliances Air-Conditioning Malaysia in Shah Alam, making it the largest on site solar installation within the Panasonic Group.
After installing a 5.2 MW system at its Air-Conditioning Factory in November 2024, the company added a 4.0 MW system at its Compressor Factory. The new installation began supplying power on January 26, 2026. Total on site capacity now stands at 9.2 MW.
Annual electricity generation is expected to reach 10,338 MWh, with an estimated reduction of 6,703 tons of CO2 each year. The solar systems are projected to cover about 18 percent of the factories’ total electricity consumption when fully operational.
The project supports Panasonic’s GREEN IMPACT vision, which targets virtually net zero CO2 emissions from its own operations by 2030 and broader decarbonisation goals by 2050.
