Meta has begun construction of a new 1GW data center campus in Lebanon Indiana, marking an investment of over $10 billion. It is the company’s second site in Indiana and one of its largest infrastructure projects to date.

The facility is designed to support both AI workloads and core products, offering high bandwidth, lower latency and improved reliability. Once operational, the campus will deliver 1GW of capacity to meet growing compute demand.

At peak construction, the project is expected to support more than 4,000 jobs, with around 300 permanent operational roles. Meta will also fund workforce development programs across Boone County schools.

The company will invest over $120 million in local water and public infrastructure. It has committed $1 million annually for 20 years to support energy bill assistance. The site will match 100% of its energy use with clean energy, target LEED Gold certification and use a water efficient cooling system designed to restore 100% of water consumed to local watersheds.
