Medtronic has started the EMEA commercial rollout of the MiniMed Go Smart MDI system with the Simplera sensor. The system integrates data from the InPen smart insulin pen and the Simplera continuous glucose sensor into a single mobile app. It is designed for people managing diabetes with multiple daily injections.

The system provides real time glucose insights, missed dose alerts, high glucose alerts and a built in advanced dose calculator. All features are accessible through a smartphone app that offers continuous guidance.

Research shows that missing two insulin doses per week can raise HbA1C by up to 0.4 and reduce Time in Range by more than 5%. Real world data from the earlier Smart MDI system showed users responding to over 75% of missed dose alerts achieved 67.2% Time in Range compared to 55.7% average, and up to 71.5% when addressing high glucose alerts.

The system also includes CareLink Clinic MDI reports to help healthcare professionals review patient data. In Europe, it is approved for people aged 7 and above, and for children aged 2 to 6 under adult supervision.
