Apple has started global celebrations marking the company’s 50th anniversary with events highlighting creativity innovation and community.

The celebrations began on March 13 with a live performance by 17 time Grammy Award winning artist Alicia Keys at Apple Grand Central in New York City. The performance took place on the iconic staircase inside the store and featured a set of her well known songs. The event was captured using the iPhone 17 Pro.

Throughout the month Apple will host events around the world to commemorate five decades since the company was founded. The gatherings aim to showcase how technology can support creativity learning and collaboration.

Alicia Keys has previously collaborated with Apple across several initiatives including releasing her music catalog in Spatial Audio on Apple Music and participating in Apple Music Live performances. In 2024 she also featured in the Apple Immersive experience “Alicia Keys: Rehearsal Room” for Apple Vision Pro.

Apple said the anniversary events will continue globally with more updates expected in the coming weeks.
