Nokia has secured a multi-year 5G Radio Access Network deal with Virgin Media O2 to support network modernization across the UK.

As part of the agreement, Nokia will deploy its AirScale RAN portfolio, including Massive MIMO radios, modular baseband systems, and energy-efficient radio platforms. The deployment is aimed at improving network capacity, coverage, spectral efficiency, and overall user experience.

The collaboration builds on a long-standing relationship between the two companies and supports Virgin Media O2’s Mobile Transformation Plan. The rollout will also incorporate technologies such as AI-enabled baseband systems and advanced network architectures to enable scalable and efficient operations.

In addition to deployment, both companies will work on joint innovation programs focused on network automation, AI-driven intelligence, and the evolution toward 5G-Advanced capabilities.
