Apple has shared updates to Apple Watch and Apple Fitness+ aimed at helping users stay active and consistent with their fitness goals in the new year. New data from the Apple Heart and Movement Study shows that Apple Watch users tend to increase their exercise levels in January and maintain them well beyond Quitter’s Day, the second Friday of the month when many abandon fitness resolutions.

Starting January 5, Apple Fitness+ is adding four new multi week workout programs designed to simplify training plans. These include structured routines for strength, HIIT and yoga, along with beginner focused strength training. The service is also expanding its Artist Spotlight workouts with music from KAROL G and Bad Bunny, and introducing new Time to Walk episodes featuring Penn Badgley, Mel B and Michelle Monaghan.

Apple Watch users can earn a limited edition Ring in the New Year award by closing all three Activity rings for seven consecutive days in January. For the first time, Apple Watch users on Strava can also join a Quit Quitting challenge by completing twelve workouts in the month.
