GE Vernova announced plans to invest about $200 million to expand its electrification manufacturing capacity by building a new facility in Hai Phong Vietnam. The site will manufacture large power transformers mainly used in High Voltage Direct Current transmission projects.

The investment is part of GE Vernova’s broader plan to invest $11 billion in capital expenditure and research from 2025 to 2028 to support global electrification and grid infrastructure development.

The new facility will complement existing transformer manufacturing operations in the United Kingdom and India. HVDC technology helps transmit electricity efficiently over long distances and supports grid stability as power demand grows.

Construction will be developed in phases with full operations expected by 2028 subject to approvals. The project is expected to create around 450 jobs by 2030 and will include workforce training and knowledge sharing programs.

GE Vernova already has a significant presence in Vietnam with over 1,100 employees across nine locations supporting energy infrastructure and manufacturing operations.
