Focus on Technology Security and Workforce Development
Microsoft has announced a $10 billion investment in Japan from 2026 to 2029, focused on expanding AI infrastructure, strengthening cybersecurity, and developing workforce capabilities.
The investment is structured around three areas: technology, trust, and talent. It includes expanding in-country AI infrastructure through partnerships with companies such as SoftBank and Sakura Internet, enabling data to remain within Japan while supporting advanced AI workloads.
Microsoft will also deepen cybersecurity collaborations with national institutions and law enforcement agencies to enhance threat detection and resilience.
On the talent front, the company plans to train over one million engineers and workers by 2030 in collaboration with organizations including Fujitsu, Hitachi, and NTT Data.
