Initiative Focuses on Solar Training and Workforce Development

ReNew Energy Global Plc has inaugurated a Centre of Excellence at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad to expand its clean energy skilling initiative under Project ReNew Surya.

The programme aims to train 10,000 individuals by 2030 for roles in the renewable energy sector. The centre builds on a pilot phase that trained over 350 women from coal-mining communities in solar-related skills.

In its next phase, the initiative plans to train more than 500 candidates from regions such as Jharkhand, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh. The training programme will cover areas including solar PV installation, project management, and operations and maintenance.

The initiative is designed to support workforce transition from traditional energy sectors to renewable energy, with a focus on skill development and employability.
