Toshiba SmartMCD TB9M030FG Enables Efficient Sensorless Motor Control
Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation has started sample shipments of its new SmartMCD series product, the TB9M030FG, designed for motor control in automotive applications.
The device integrates a microcontroller and motor driver into a compact unit, helping reduce component count and save board space in electronic control units. It is designed for three-phase brushless DC motors used in systems such as water pumps, oil pumps, fans, and blowers.
A key feature is its sensorless control technology, which enables stable motor control from zero and low speeds without requiring position sensors. This helps improve efficiency and reduce noise during operation.
The device is built on an Arm Cortex-M0 core and includes flash memory, a gate driver, and communication support, all within a compact package. It also meets AEC-Q100 Grade 0 standards for automotive reliability.
