Samsung Electronics has partnered with Turkish Airlines to improve the travel experience with SmartThings Find. On December 1 both companies launched the Smart Tagged Baggage Service which helps passengers track lost or delayed bags through Samsung’s location service.

Galaxy SmartTag2 is a small accessory that lets users track luggage and other items. SmartThings Find uses Bluetooth Low Energy and ultra wideband technology to locate registered Samsung Galaxy devices. With support from a large global network of Galaxy devices, users can find smartphones, tablets, watches, earbuds and items with SmartTags attached.

With this partnership Turkish Airlines can recover bags more efficiently when a SmartTag is attached and passengers share a link with location details in their lost baggage report. Travelers can also upload a photo of their luggage in SmartThings Find which helps identify bags if misplaced.

Samsung plans to work with more airlines and Turkish Airlines aims to use SmartThings Find in other services that benefit from location tracking. Both companies see this as a step toward better digital services for travelers.
