Philips has expanded the commercial availability of LumiGuide, a real-time AI-enabled, light-based 3D navigation solution for image-guided therapy, across Europe and the United States. LumiGuide is designed to support clinicians during complex endovascular procedures by using light instead of continuous X-ray to visualize guidewires and compatible catheters. Integrated with the Azurion image-guided therapy platform, the system aims to provide real-time 3D orientation, reduce radiation exposure, and streamline procedural workflow.
The technology, based on Fiber Optic RealShape (FORS), reflects light through an optical fiber to display device position and shape from multiple angles. LumiGuide also uses AI for quick anatomical alignment, helping clinicians navigate with precision. Early clinical use has indicated potential improvements in efficiency, reduced procedure time, and decreased reliance on fluoroscopy. Over 2,000 procedures have been performed during its limited release phase.
The expanded rollout follows continued investment in clinical evidence and ongoing development of low-dose and radiation-free navigation technologies within Philips’ image-guided therapy ecosystem. LumiGuide will be available for commercial orders in key European markets and the U.S. from January 2026, with further research planned to support broader clinical adoption.
