LG Electronics has announced the rollout of new games on its LG Gaming Portal, allowing users to play directly on LG Smart TVs without additional hardware. The update expands the platform’s catalog and reflects LG’s effort to grow its TV based gaming ecosystem using cloud and casual game offerings.
The Gaming Portal now provides access to more than four thousand cloud based games and over six hundred casual titles. Games can be played on the TV screen using the LG Magic Remote or a smartphone as a controller, removing the need for consoles or external devices.
Dance game Just Dance Now is now available on LG Smart TVs running webOS 22 or later in selected markets including the United States Australia Sweden and Norway. Through a collaboration with Ubisoft, players can use the motion sensing LG Magic Remote to follow routines and play with friends or family.
LG has also partnered with Volley to bring voice controlled games to living rooms in the United States. The lineup includes familiar game show formats such as Jeopardy! along with music trivia titles like Song Quiz, all designed for hands free interaction using voice commands.
For racing fans, LG and Blacknut have introduced Asphalt Legends Unite. The game is available free with ads and allows users to access cars and maps from the start. Players can begin racing using basic remote controls without in game purchases.
Another new title is My Little Puppy, published by Krafton and offered through Blacknut. The game focuses on a narrative driven adventure and is designed to take advantage of large screen visuals on LG Smart TVs.
LG has also added award winning titles from the LG webOS Hackathon including Quest of Sunflower and Signs of Magic. These games are optimized for TV play and use the Magic Remote’s motion sensors to support gesture based interaction. In addition, LG has introduced a Wi Fi based mobile gamepad app for Android and iOS, allowing smartphones to function as controllers for supported games.
