Google has rolled out a new image editing feature in Google Photos for users in India. The update allows people to edit photos by simply describing the changes they want using voice or text.
Users can access the feature by opening a photo and tapping Help me edit. With support from Gemini AI capabilities the tool can apply edits such as removing objects adjusting facial expressions or changing visual styles based on simple prompts. The feature can also make personalized edits to people in photos by using images from a user’s private face groups.
Google Photos now supports creative transformations through the editor by letting users describe a new look or style for their images. The updates are designed to reduce manual editing steps and make common photo adjustments quicker.
The feature is available on Android devices with at least 4GB RAM running Android 8.0 or higher. It supports multiple languages including English Hindi Tamil Marathi Telugu Bengali and Gujarati.
To improve transparency Google Photos is also adding C2PA Content Credentials. These attach a digital label to edited images showing their origin and edit history.
