Xcel Energy and GE Vernova announced the signing of a Strategic Alliance Agreement aimed at supporting reliable affordable and sustainable energy infrastructure through the 2030s. The agreement strengthens their long standing collaboration and focuses on generation and grid projects across Xcel Energy’s service territories.
Under the agreement Xcel Energy will leverage GE Vernova’s equipment and services to improve certainty of supply operational flexibility and cost predictability for customers and stakeholders. As an initial step Xcel Energy signed a Reservation Agreement to purchase five F class gas turbines manufactured at GE Vernova facilities in the United States.
Xcel Energy also completed a Capacity Reservation Agreement covering multiple gigawatts of wind projects using GE Vernova wind turbine technology. These projects are part of Xcel Energy’s renewable energy pipeline and further integrate U.S. manufactured equipment into its generation portfolio.
Beyond new generation capacity the alliance includes upgrades to existing infrastructure and a shared focus on innovation. The companies plan to collaborate on areas such as artificial intelligence grid modernization and joint research and development. This approach is intended to support evolving energy demand and enable testing of next generation technologies across the power system.
