Apple Sustainability Progress 2026 Highlights Recycled Materials and Clean Energy

Apple has shared updates on its sustainability efforts, reporting that 30 percent of materials used in its products shipped in 2025 came from recycled sources.

The company now uses 100 percent recycled cobalt in its batteries and 100 percent recycled rare earth elements in magnets. It has also removed plastic from its packaging, shifting to fibre-based materials that are easier to recycle.

Apple continues to work toward its Apple 2030 goal of becoming carbon neutral across its entire footprint. Its greenhouse gas emissions remain over 60 percent lower than 2015 levels.

The company is also investing in recycling technologies and renewable energy, with suppliers generating over 20 gigawatts of clean energy. Water conservation efforts saved billions of gallons of water, with projects replenishing more than half of its corporate water use.

Additionally, Apple is advancing waste reduction, achieving a 75% waste diversion rate across operations.
