WhatsApp Prepaid Recharge India Feature Brings Mobile Payments and Plans Into One App

WhatsApp has introduced prepaid mobile recharge functionality for users in India, allowing recharges directly within the app without switching platforms.

Users can recharge numbers for operators including Jio, Airtel and Vi by selecting plans and completing payments through UPI, debit card or credit card. The feature supports recharging for self as well as friends and family.

A new ₹ icon has been added to improve access to payments and services. This entry point allows users to access UPI payments, prepaid recharges and metro ticketing features directly from the chat interface.

The feature is being rolled out in phases across Android and iOS and will be available to all users in the coming weeks.

This update expands WhatsApp’s role beyond messaging, integrating everyday services such as payments and travel into a single platform for easier access and use.
