Garmin Enables WhatsApp Messaging and Replies Directly from Smartwatches
Garmin has introduced a WhatsApp app for select smartwatches, allowing users to access messages directly from their devices. The app is available through the Connect IQ Store and supports models including fēnix, Forerunner, Venu and vívoactive series.
With this update, users can view conversations, read messages and reply using a built-in keyboard. The app also allows quick reactions with emojis, displays up to 10 recent messages and shows incoming calls with an option to decline.
The integration enables users to stay connected without needing to use their phone. Messages and calls remain protected with end-to-end encryption, ensuring privacy.
This marks the first third-party messaging app available on Garmin smartwatches, supported by the company’s developer platform. The move expands smartwatch functionality by adding direct communication features alongside existing fitness and tracking capabilities.
