Medtronic announced a definitive agreement to acquire Scientia Vascular for $550 million, subject to customary adjustments and potential milestone payments. The deal is expected to close in the first half of fiscal year 2027 pending regulatory approvals.
Scientia Vascular, based in Salt Lake City with about 310 employees, develops guidewires and catheters used in neurovascular procedures. These technologies are designed to help physicians navigate complex cerebral blood vessels and reach treatment areas more efficiently.
The acquisition will complement Medtronic’s neurovascular portfolio by integrating Scientia’s access technologies with its existing therapeutic devices. This combination is intended to support procedures for conditions such as ischemic stroke and hemorrhagic stroke.
Stroke remains one of the leading causes of death and disability globally. Improved access tools can help physicians perform procedures more efficiently and support faster treatment delivery in time critical cases.
