Garmin has introduced the inReach Mini 3 Plus, a compact satellite communicator designed for use in areas without cellphone connectivity. The device includes a color touchscreen, built-in speaker, and microphone, enabling users to exchange 30-second voice messages, transcribed messages, and text messages directly from the unit. It also supports photo sharing through the Garmin Messenger app and offers LiveTrack location sharing so contacts can follow the user’s progress during outdoor travel.
The communicator features up to 330 hours of battery life in 10-minute tracking mode, aiming to support extended trips. In emergencies, users can trigger an SOS that connects them with the Garmin Response center, where coordinators manage communication with local search and rescue teams, emergency contacts, and other available resources. Photo and voice information can be included in SOS communication to provide additional context.
The inReach Mini 3 Plus is built for rugged environments, with resistance to water, impact, and temperature extremes. When paired with the Garmin Explore app, users can plan routes, follow courses, and retrace their path. The device is now available at a retail price of $499.99, with active satellite service required for communication features.
