LG Electronics is contributing to the development of next generation wireless networks through its participation in the 6G Coalition, a global initiative aimed at advancing AI-native connectivity.
The coalition was announced by Qualcomm Technologies during Mobile World Congress 2026 and brings together more than 58 companies across mobility telecommunications IoT and mobile devices. Members are collaborating to develop standards system architectures and validation processes required for future 6G networks.
6G is expected to move beyond faster connectivity by integrating AI computing and wide area sensing into network infrastructure. The technology aims to distribute intelligence across devices edge systems and cloud environments enabling real time data processing and automated network operations.
Within the coalition LG Electronics is contributing expertise through its Vehicle Solution Company focusing on connected mobility technologies such as telematics in vehicle infotainment and vehicle computing platforms.
The initiative also outlines a development roadmap that includes early system validation and demonstrations of pre commercial 6G devices and networks beginning in 2028. Global commercialization is expected to follow from 2029 onward.
LG said 6G will play a key role in supporting software defined vehicles and emerging AI driven mobility systems that require continuous connectivity low latency communication and high performance computing.
