Google AI Hub Visakhapatnam Project Supports India’s AI Infrastructure and Community Growth
Google has started construction of its AI Hub in Visakhapatnam, marking the next phase of a $15 billion investment to support India’s digital and AI ecosystem.
The hub will provide large scale computing infrastructure to help startups and enterprises develop AI solutions. It is being developed with partners AdaniConneX and Nxtra by Airtel. The project also includes subsea cable connectivity through the America India Connect initiative to strengthen global data links.
The development focuses on sustainability through clean energy, transmission infrastructure and energy storage, aligning with India’s goal of 500 GW non fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
Community programs include water management projects, support for fishing communities with GPS tools, funding for local innovation and training for over 10,000 women entrepreneurs. Workforce initiatives will train over 1,000 professionals and 1,200 students in areas including AI and infrastructure operations.
The project aims to create an AI corridor by integrating local businesses into global supply chains and supporting regional economic growth.
