LG Hybrid eCall Solution Enables Multi Network Emergency Communication for Vehicles

LG Electronics presented its Hybrid eCall solution at the 37th 5G Automotive Association Meeting Week in Sweden, highlighting its capabilities in connected vehicle safety.

The Hybrid eCall system enables emergency communication across 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G networks, ensuring reliable data transmission even in areas with inconsistent network coverage. It automatically switches between available networks to maintain communication and reduce delays during emergencies.

The solution aligns with Europe’s upcoming NG eCall regulation, which will require all new vehicles from 2027 to support advanced emergency communication over 4G and 5G networks.

LG has already deployed this technology in vehicles from major automakers and is moving toward large scale production. The company also supports development with in house testing and certification capabilities, including ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation and recognition from global certification bodies.

This development builds on LG’s position in the telematics market and supports future vehicle safety and connectivity systems.
