Honda South Korea Automobile Sales Exit Reflects Strategic Shift in Market Focus
Honda Motor Co., Ltd. has announced it will discontinue automobile sales operations in South Korea by the end of 2026 through its subsidiary Honda Korea Co., Ltd.
The decision follows changes in both the global and South Korean automotive markets, with the company aiming to reallocate resources to strengthen long term competitiveness.
Despite stopping vehicle sales, Honda will continue to support existing customers in South Korea by providing after sales services. This includes maintenance, servicing, spare parts supply and warranty support.
Honda Korea will continue its motorcycle business, which will remain the core focus in the country. The company plans to strengthen this segment by offering new products and improving customer experience and service quality.
This move reflects a strategic shift rather than a full market exit, as Honda maintains a presence through services and motorcycles while stepping away from automobile sales.
